God and Jesus. Even when people could not read, symbols such as the
cross helped people understand God's great love for us through Jesus
Christ. Symbols such as the fish, or icthus, identified early Christians
to one another, and still identify Christians today. Symbols of faith
are part of our history as people of faith.
